Carlson, 85, Concordia, died Monday, March 15, 1999, at a Belleville hospital. Mrs. Carlson was a retired teacher, and she had worked for the Cloud County Community College. She was born March 9, 1914, near Talmo, the daughter of Clarence and Sylvia Blackwood Sherwood. She lived many years in the Talmo area. Mrs. Carlson was a member of Lincoln FCE, United Methodist Church in Talmo and United Methodist Women. She was a former 4-H leader. She married Lloyd A. Carlson on June 17, 1945. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Dr. Kenneth Carlson, Madill, Okla.; a daughter, Karen Nusser, Elkhart; a brother, Kenneth Sherwood, Concordia; a sister, Mary Dooley, Glendale, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church at Talmo. Burial will be at the Zion Cemetery near Talmo. Mrs. Carlson will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. today and Friday at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart-Surber Funeral Home in Belleville. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Talmo or to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
