Bio: Death came suddenly Monday morning, between the hours of 2 and 6 o'clock to Ole Esp, an old and well known sheepman of Sweet Grass county. He had been drinking heavily during the evening, and about 10:30 Dr. D. Claiborn was called to the home. At about a quarter of 2 Mrs. Esp retired. Arising at 6 a. m. she found him dead.
Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church yesterday afternoon by Rev. A. A. Holbeck, the edifice being crowded with old friends from the city and every part of the county. Many flowers were present, and special music was rendered by Mrs. Signa Bailey; Margaret Crest, J. E. Rees and Creston Crest. The pallbearers were Peder Egeland, T. K. Lee, C. T. Busha, Hans Tjaaland, T. G. Armstrong and Ben Mjelde.
Ole Esp was born in Trondhjem, Norway, January 15, 1874. In 1892 he came to Big Timber, settling on Deer creek. Starting as a herder, he branched into the sheep business and continued in that line until death. He was married in 1899 to Anna Thorgaard, who died June 5, 1908. Three children were born of the union, two of whom, Henry and Alma, are living. He was married the second time, April 17, 1911, to Anna Lovseth, two children, Oscar, aged 11, and Beulah, 10, being born. He has one Surviving brother and four sisters—Senator John T. Esp and Mrs. Anton Grande, local residents, and three sisters in Norway.
Ole Esp was a hard worker, accredited with being one of the best sheepmen in Montana, and his untimely death will be regretted by many friends.
