Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, November 4, 2013 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Barnesville, MN with Pastor Colin Grangaard officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service. Vern Duane Quinnild was born on August 6, 1930 to Henry and Dagney (Odegaard) in Moorhead, MN. He grew up on a farm outside of Comstock, MN. He attended school and graduated from the Comstock School. On January 17, 1953 he was united in marriage to Pearl Walker in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They established their home on a farm near Comstock until moving into Barnesville in 1955 where they had lived through the years. Vern loved the land and farmed most of his life. He raised cattle and grains. After retiring from farming, he worked at Dean's Bulk for a number of years. Vern was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and served on the founding board of the Barnesville Area Clinic. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and Friday night prayer meetings with friends. He also liked playing cards and pool. Vern is survived by two sons: Paul and James Quinnild, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brother Harold Quinnild, sister Darlene Hoppe, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Pearl in 2011, his parents, one sister Vivian Hoppe. Vivian Quinnild was born on November 14, 1927, on the family farm near Comstock, MN, to Henry and Dagney (Odegaard) Quinnild. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Comstock High School. Vivian married Frank Hoppe on December 4, 1946 in Comstock, MN, and they made their home on a farm in Sabin, MN. Frank passed away on May 30, 1999. Vivian had a love for working with her hands, including crafting, working in her flower garden, and especially quilting. She lovingly created several quilts over the years. She also enjoyed spending summers at Pelican Lake and fishing was a special pastime. Vivian is survived by her children, Dennis (Mona) Hoppe, Barnesville, MN, Margaret (Roger) Lee, Perley, MN, Lois (Don) Williams, Moorhead, MN, and Joyce (Reese) Cottrell, North Pole, AK; brothers Harold (Angie) Quinnild, Fargo, ND, Vern Quinnild, Barnesville, MN; sister Darlene (Leslie) Hoppe, Sabin, MN; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Helen Evert. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Betty, and her sister-in-law, Pearl Quinnild. | 2929 | WANAMINGO -- The funeral for Ruby Ociel Langseth will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo, with the Rev. Byron Meline officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Mrs. Langseth, 86, of Wanamingo, a retired teacher, died Wednesday (May 8, 1996) at Zumbrota Community Hospital. Ruby Ociel Sunde was born Sept. 21, 1909, in rural Hayfield, graduated from Hayfield High School in 1927 and attended Kasson Perkins Normal School for a year. She taught in rural schools in Dodge and Winona counties for eight years and taught Wanamingo Home Bound for Wanamingo schools for nine years. After receiving a bachelor of science degree in elementary education in 1968, she taught in Wastedo, Minn., schools and then was a kindergarten teacher in Mazeppa schools until her retirement in 1975. On June 10, 1936, she married Olaf Langseth in Austin. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Karen Oelschlager of New York Mills, Minn.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Warren Sunde of Dilworth, Minn., and Donald Sunde of Randolph, Minn. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
